Courtney's Semester in London

Welcome to my Travel Blog. I will post pictures and stories from my semester abroad in London, England!

Hello My Name Is Courtney

As you may have guessed by my url and title, I am studying abroad in London, England for the Spring 2020 semester. I am a junior at Virginia Commonwealth University majoring in Mathematics with a concentration in Secondary Teacher Prep. In my free time I love to thrift, try to cook new recipes, and spend time with my friends!

I chose to study abroad in London because I have always wanted to live in a big city. It is also relatively cheap and easy to travel to the rest of Europe from London. While in London, I will be attending London Metropolitan University (LMU). LMU is located in the Holloway neighborhood which is about 10 to 15 minutes from central London on The Tube. (The Tube/ Underground is London’s subway system) I am also living in the Holloway neighborhood. While studying abroad I hope to try lots of new food, experience many new cultures, and learn about what it’s like to be a college student in London!

My transition to online classes

Once I got the news that I was going to have to come home, I kind of stopped focusing on school for a bit. I spent my last few days in London having fun with my friends and trying to check as many things off of my bucket list as I could. Once I got…

2 weeks of quarantine

At 6 a.m. the morning of my flight home, I got in the taxi to the airport, unsure of what to expect once I got there. I flew out of Heathrow Airport, and it didn’t really seem much different. No one was taking temperatures or wearing masks, things seemed normal. I grabbed breakfast at one…

My last week in London

As I’m sure all of you know, COVID-19 has become a worldwide pandemic. Because of this, my study abroad program was cancelled and I had to come home halfway through my semester abroad. I will be discussing this transition in upcoming posts, but this post will be devoted to everything I squeezed into my last…
